Following the amazing reaction we had with the introduction of Finska, we launched Kubb as our second gift to Australian lovers of classic outdoor games. Just like Finska, we tried it and instantly loved the game. Admittedly, we were also getting a little tired of saying no to the constant requests from worldly people looking to buy Kubb in Australia. Thanks for the nagging!

For those that don’t know, Kubb is an addictive and seriously good outdoor game from Sweden. Also known as Viking Chess, Kubb is genuine fun for family and friends of all ages. It is a perfect way to deliver laughs and entertainment at your next outdoor get together. Kubb is easy to learn and with each team having between one and six Vikings, it can happily entertain a larger group.

This excellent and fun video from our friends at Sky Motion does a fabulous job of explaining Kubb. It seriously is a great game. After we introduced finska to Australia, we thought there was little chance that Kubb would be in the same league. We were wrong. The games are different but equally deserving of "classic game" status. We have trouble deciding which game we like more. What we can say with enormous confidence is that you will like it. It's just good old fashioned fun. It really is.

Finska is the addictive log-tossing game from Finland. An ancient Finnish game, Finska is a unique and seriously addictive outdoor game that will provide genuine entertainment at the beach, the park or in your own backyard. In 2010 we introduced this unique game to Australia and whilst we expected it to be very popular, we have been overwhelmed by how popular it has become. The key we think is that it brings people together irrespective of age or gender in a very healthy old-fashioned way.
what is it?
A race to exactly 50 points, where every game is different, Finska requires both strategy and skill to defeat your opponent and claim victory. Finska also has the added bonus of reinforcing mental arithmetic. Many Australian primary schools have now adopted Finska as a great way of making maths fun outdoors. We call that education by stealth. So get off the couch, drop the electronic gizmos and get your family and friends together outside for some fresh air and good times with Finska.

Yes, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. But only Original Finska is carefully crafted from 100% select grade birch, a high grade hardwood known for its shock resistant properties. This means that unlike the imitators, we are fussy about the timber we use and will not use lower grade cuts or cheap softwood such as pine as they are prone to knots, cracks and splits. Unlike the imitators we do not cut corners and sneakily reduce the diameter of the pins. Did you know that just a 3mm reduction in pin diameter reduces the size of the pins by 10%? We think thats a lot of stability and does not stay true to the tradition of this old Finnish game. Only Original Finska has full diameter pins!

from camping to weddings
Finska is hugely popular in the camping and caravan scene. What better way to enhance happy hour with some log-tossing fun over a few quiet ones. We have heard that a number of grey nomads now call it the "ginska and finska" hour! The Australian Caravan Association has held Finska tournaments at their Annual Musters with over 200 competitors. With lawn games now a huge thing for wedding receptions and parties, Finska is regularly played by men, women and children all dressed to the nines! And what better way for your guests to get to know each other, break the ice and have fun than to chuck a few logs on the lawn outside the fancy marquee! We think it sure beats idle polite chit chat as the way to get your party going!
